A Day in the Life of a Dental Team

Every day in a dental clinic is dynamic. Although the work itself follows a standard routine and various protocols, working with people is what makes this job diverse, and every day unique.

Arrival at the Clinic

All employees arrive 15 minutes before the start of the workday. Before the first patients arrive, a brief meeting is held to outline the day’s work plan. Chairs are turned on, instruments are checked, and sterilized.

The First Patients

Every patient who comes in for the first time receives a short questionnaire to fill out in the waiting room. The patient provides basic information about themselves and their health condition. After completing the questionnaire, they sit in the dental chair, and the dentist begins their work.

Break

Depending on the schedule for the day, the timing of the break varies. It usually takes place around the middle of the workday. During the break, the staff rests, eats, and prepares for the rest of the workday.

Continuing Work with Patients

In the first part of the day, shorter and simpler procedures are usually scheduled, as their duration can be predicted more precisely. The more complex procedures that require more time are scheduled for the second part of the day, after the break.

Emergency Cases

When it comes to emergencies, pain is usually the main issue. The patient arrives with severe pain that has lasted from a few hours to several days. This patient is seen out of order by the first available dentist between two scheduled patients. Since providing first aid is a relatively short procedure, it doesn’t significantly disrupt the entire day’s schedule.

End of the Workday

After the last patient leaves the clinic, the team begins cleaning up the space, washing and sterilizing instruments, and documenting everything that was done during the day but wasn’t recorded during the work.

Going Home

The entire team packs up, shares their impressions of the day, and then everyone heads home.
